"Mama Eva"
1926-2004

Eva Schröcksnadel was born on 2nd January 1926. She grew up in Salzburg, where she already spent a lot of time in nature and on the mountains.

Her social sense was developed very early, effected by her parent´s house and grandfather, who had always stood up for socially poor people. During the time of Nazis she lived in rebellion against the regime.
In 1979 she travelled to Tansania for the first time as a tourist. When she retired she could stay in Africa for a longer time, where she attended a course in Swahili. she propably found her love to Africa at this time and it was clear to stay more time there in future.
In Salzburg she became member of EVS (Development Association Salzburg), whereby her desire for Africa was canalized into development.
The contact to Singida began when friends told her about a visit to Singida and the misery in this region.
She had to arrange her trips to Africa with the role as mother because she had a family to care for. It wasn´t that easy to manage everything, but her heart hung on Africa. Together with friends she established and enlarged the cooperation with Singida until her death. She spent every free minute for the cooperation because it was an affair to her heart.
Eva was a wonderful woman. Without many words she knew how to communicate with everybody to reach her ambition referring to Singida. In her unintrusive character she was present and efficient.
With her huge trustfulness and confidence nothing was impossible for Eva. "We will make it somehow" was a frequently ceclaration.
Too early "Mama Eva" died in the night to 23rd December 2004. But she will remain in many hearts here and in Africa. A fulfilled life has been finished.
