The Association of Sister Cities Salzburg - Singida
History:
Salzburg´s city council decided to found a city partnership
with León (Nicaragua) an Singida (Tanzania) in June 1984.
In 1986 the official inauguration of the "Association city partnerships
of Salzburg with cities and communities in the Third World" occured in
Salzburg’s Castle of Mirabell. The mayors of all three cities
attended this event. Duties and responsibilities expanded largely so
that the partnerships were splitted into two separat associations in
2003.
One of the important founders of Sister Cities Salzburg – Singida was the famous painter from Salzburg Professor Wilhelm Kaufmann. His daughter Eva Schröcksnadel "Mama Eva" stood for power and soul in the Sister Cieties until her death in 2004.
